Talking about the impromptu engagement and wedding, the newly-wed Kanika, who is working on Rajkumar Hirani’s next among several other films, says, “Himanshu had just wrapped up Atrangi Re. Our families were here with us at that time. We thought we may not get a better opportunity to bring everyone who matters to us together so easily. So, we decided to get married in their presence and with their blessings. Even the engagement had happened in a similar fashion because both of us are swamped with work, and in the present times, it’s very difficult to have everyone around us at the same time. COVID19 is still here. The pandemic is still not over, and so the wedding had to be quick, and somewhat, impromptu.”
Himanshu and Kanika plan to move into their new love-nest, which Himanshu has been working on for a while now. He has been supervising the renovation and the house should be ready to move in soon enough. “Himanshu had been doing up his new house while juggling all the work on his plate. It was difficult but he did it for us. There are just a few final touches left now,” beams Kanika, who has been in a steady relationship with Himanshu for a little over a year. What sparked off as a beautiful friendship years ago turned into a relationship of a lifetime.
Describing her relationship with Himanshu, Kanika says, “It’s a complete win-win to have someone so inspiring as a life-partner. There’s never a dull moment between us. Himanshu and I are never at a loss of words which makes things very exciting. Himanshu, as a companion, is the kind of person who will only help you blossom as a person and as a professional. We do end up discussing work when one of us is stuck somewhere. He has set a high benchmark as a companion. The qualities he has can rarely be found in one person.”
