Exclusive! Remo D’Souza lists Dos and Don’ts he is following to get his heart back to full fitness; gets expert flown in from Nepal – Times of India

Remo D’Souza, who suffered a heart attack a few days ago, is recovering well. A few minutes ago, ETimes got in touch with him. The choreographer-turned-director sounded very cheerful and positive.

And of course, there are going to be certain rules and regulations in his diet and lifestyle for quite some time. Here are the Dos and Don’ts for Remo D’Souza as told to us by him:

1. “No non-vegetarian food. Minimum to no salt, oil and sugar. Wonder what my food tastes like. Don’t wonder and don’t ask.”

2. “Walk, and try walking a bit briskly. But I stay at a building which is on a bit of a hill. So I am not supposed to go up the hill. I am going to take my car down and then start walking, similarly, I will have to return up in my car.”

3. “However, that car will have to be driven by someone else. Because I have been told to stop driving for at least 2 months.”

4. “No work out. Now, that is something I am going to miss. I used to lift 100 kg, very easily. But in four or five months, I hope to get back to my original workout.”

5. “Breathing exercises are a must, which I have started. I do those twice a day. My heart rate had gone to 25 and it is getting better now.”

6. “I am also going to do Tai Chi. It is a form of martial art practised for defence training, health benefits, and meditation.”

7. “Some yoga is a must.”

8. “I shall start cycling after a week. I love cycling. I have 5 cycles at home.”

For breathing exercises and especially Tai Chi, Remo reveals, “I have flown down an expert from Nepal who was recommended by one of my friends. I shall start with him from January 2. He’ll stay with me at least till I am perfectly okay if not more.”

The expert in question has been hired at 25,000 per month plus his accommodation arrangement will also have to be borne by Remo. Tai Chi is known to relieve the physical effects of stress on the body.

This is Remo’s new normal. He concludes, “And, I am going to follow it. I have realised the value of life. We have only one life and we need to be happy but at the same time careful. Doctors keep asking me how I didn’t feel any discomfort since quite some time as I was diagnosed with 100 per cent blockage. And I don’t even smoke or drink, imagine!”
