How do you feel about the win?
For a platform like Filmfare to recognise the kind of work that we do on OTT and to give it a validation and the love that it deserves, I think that was the biggest win for me. Winning a Filmfare myself obviously makes me feel extremely ecstatic.
You were nominated with the other talented bunch of actors. Did you expect to take the Best Actor award in a comedy series?
No, I didn’t expect this win as I was nominated alongside some brilliant and talented actresses. I am genuinely saying this and I actually voted for Sumukhi Suresh because I totally thought she deserved the award. I am elated that she won the award for Best Actress (Critics) for ‘Pushpavalli’, it is one of my favourite shows on the internet.
How would you describe your journey so far? You started off in 2014 and you have two Filmfare awards already to your credit, how has it been?
My journey so far has been absolutely surreal. I enjoyed every bit of it and I still am enjoying being in front of the camera every second. It’s not been too long since I started and there’s just so much that I have had to experience. I cannot imagine how much more there is to see and explore and I am very excited about the journey ahead. I am looking forward to it because I still have not scratched the surface yet.
What do you think is the best thing about OTT?
The platform is liberating and limitless, there is no limit for genre, time and language. Everybody is here to tell a story. I think the culture of telling a hero and heroine story has significantly changed – thanks to the internet. Today, on the internet we are able to tell stories about ‘people’ where it’s just not about a hero or a heroine but about you and I or people that we have met in our life. This is what I enjoy about OTT.
Which is your personal favourite OTT show?
I have a long list of favourites so I will list the current shows that I am binge-watching. ‘Pushpavalli’ is a show that I love watching anytime. The current shows that I am watching are ‘The Crown’ and ‘Schitt’s Creek’, I just enjoy them. The ones that I have recently watched and have been watching throughout the year are ‘Fleabag’, ‘The Morning show’ and ‘Sex Education’.
