Exclusive! Vardhan Puri on Kabir Khan’s ’83’: I wish I could have played Kapil Dev – Times of India


As we are just a few days away from saying goodbye to the year 2020, actor Vardhan Puri, grandson of the late legendary actor Amrish Puri, turned back the clock to recall his favourite moments and share all that the year has taught him. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Vardhaan, who made his acting debut with the 2019 film ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’ and will be seen next in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s ‘The Last Show’ also got candid about his dreams and expressed his desire to be cast as Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s ’83’, a role which went to Ranveer Singh. Describe 2020 in one sentence.
The year that taught me the true meaning of gratitude and the importance of family and close friends

If you had to say something to this year, what would it be?

I love you 2020 cause you taught me so much but please never come back! I don’t want you. Bye!

Your favourite film of 2020
I yet have to watch a film this year which I truly adore.

Your favourite look of 2020
Denims and a white t shirt. Basic, Uber cool, easy, comfortable and never gets old.

Your favourite song of 2020
‘Yummy…’ by Justin Bieber. I have great memories attached to this song.

Any favourite OTT shows of 2020
‘Scam’ and ‘Paatal Lok‘. These two shows blew my mind and inspired me to create brilliant content.

Food that you tried for the first time in 2020
A friend made me try a fusion between Gujju and Japanese cuisine and it was actually awesome.

Talent you acquired in 2020
Gardening and cooking. They both keep me busy and I experience a feeling of accomplishment every time I get done.

One holiday destination you missed visiting in 2020
My favourite city in the world, Amsterdam. I can’t wait to go back with family and friends.

Were there any plans that 2020 ruined for you?
I wish I could have shot for a few more films and got to meet more of my close people during the lockdown.

Any new year resolutions?
I really want to learn to play a musical instrument. It’s been my dream since I was very little. I will make it happen as soon as possible.

One film you are looking forward to in 2021
83 The Film directed by Kabir Khan. It looks very exciting. I wish I could have played Kapil Dev.

If Genie grants you three wishes – what would you ask for?
To take away poverty from the world, to make human beings kinder and to make my family members immortal. ❤️

One life lesson that you learnt in 2020

Jaan Hai Toh Jahaan Hai. Health is wealth. I think that is the only mantra for a complete and fulfilling life.
