Did you know Hrithik Roshan had turned down ‘Swades’? – Times of India

From the charming superhero in ‘Krrish’ to a motivating professor in ‘Super 30’ – Hrithik Roshan has entertained fans with several versatile roles. He completed two decades in Bollywood this year and during this journey there have been several movies that Hrithik had rejected. One of them is Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Swades’, which was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.

Speaking about the reason for having turned down the movie, Hrithik had told BT in an interview, “I had read Ashutosh’s script for Swades. I couldn’t see it from the director’s perspective, and therefore didn’t think I was equipped to perform the part. I wasn’t the best person to translate Ashutosh’s vision. And this was right after Lagaan so when Ashutosh came to me I felt on top of the world. Swades is one of my favourite films. And Ashutosh is definitely one of my favourite filmmakers.” Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan went on to essay the lead in Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama ‘Jodhaa Akbar’.

While Hrithik is yet to announce his next movie, buzz suggests that he is in talks to essay a parallel lead as a spy in an upcoming Hollywood action thriller.
